So you like movie musicals, Profane Angel.  So do I.  

Yes, indeed. Although I'm more into Noir.

I've always liked musicals, particularly the older ones, such as West Side Story, which I'm especially into.  I'm a devout fan of the movie WSS (it's my alltime favorite movie) who's also seen several very good stage productions of this great musical, and who also enjoys writing and talking about it at length.  

However, other musicals I've liked a lot are as follows:

A)  My Fair Lady

B)  Roar of the Greasepaint, Smell of the Crowd

C)  Brigadoon

D)  Oklahoma  (liked stage version better than the movie)

E)  Showboat

F) Godspell  (not the movie--blecchh!)

G)  Hair

H)  Sound of Music (kind of have mixed feelings about the story behind TSOM, however)

I)  O Calcutta

Among others...I'm a sucker for Judy Garland and Fred Astaire's movies.

Sounds like you've got some great tastes in musicals also, Profane Angel. I've admittedly never heard of the musical Blue Skies , but I'm familiar with the rest of them.  I've never seen Top Hat, Easter Parade, or 42nd Street, however.  

Although they're certainly not West Side Story, Wizard of Oz  and My Fair Lady are both fun musicals, both on stage and on screen, although I kind of liked the stage production of My Fair Lady better than the film version of MFL.

I also prefer stage than screen. I recently saw a marvelous old musical called "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers"
